The character designs are colorful all of the enemies have a distinct look and the sprites aren t heavily recycled throughout the game which is often the case with these types of games. The bosses are truly menacing and they often take up the majority of the screen. The boss design is great too and it takes a bit of careful observation to pick out the patterns of each boss but even if you do that it s no easy task to exploit the weak spots in those patterns. In addition the animation is smooth and natural. There aren t a ton of animations here but the gameplay varies so much that you ll be required to make use of all the tricks in your book and the characters look great stringing together jumps slides dodges and shots. Amazingly even with half a dozen enemies and tons of bombs explosions and bullets flying all around the screen the frame rate holds up quite well. more... | £9.29

Infiltrate Zebes the Space Pirates home planet and take onthe menace of the Mother Brain As you progress ever deeper into enemyterritory seek out suit enhancements like the Morph Ball and Ice Beam -and attempt to save the galaxy from total destruction. For the twentieth anniversary of the Nintendo Entertainment System Nintendo started porting over popular NES games to the Game Boy Advance. Nintendo calls it the NES Classic Series. These games are sold at a lower price ... Destroy the Mother Brain of Zebes and save the galaxy in this Classic NES game for the Game Boy Advance Released in 1986 Metroid invented a genre and captivated a gaming generation. Now you can play ... Before the rise of Metroid Prime and its successors the intergalactic efforts of heroine Samus Aran were known only to a select few. But to the genres hardcore and any other gamers fortunate enough to have discovered Nintendos platform adventure the Metroid series is the best in the genre. And to remind todays volatile industry of how Samus started out Nintendo has re-released the original NES title for GBA. A hardcore adventurer with a knack for drawing trouble to herself Samus first tale begins on the planet Zebes where she discovers how enemy space pirates are planning to use energy-producing Metroids to destroy the galaxy as we know it. From the beginning Metroid makes clear its intentions to deliver a traditional platform experience as players wander through myriad cave-like locales complete with obstacles and a population of hostile inhabitants. On the face of it Metroid is routine but deeper exploration reveals a far more complex and in-depth experience. Youll have to search for power-ups to reach previously unreachable areas and youll often discover the need to backtrack across vast expanses to unearth hidden items and extras. And thats great because it avoids the standard numbered level structure instead encouraging players to think for themselves. Like the original this GBA port of Metroid is an extremely challenging and sometimes unforgiving venture. But its all good and just as much fun as it was all those years ago. more... | £8.19
